Troops of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade have been tasked by General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), to intensify their efforts in eliminating the ongoing security issues in their Joint Operations Area (JOA) and Southern Kaduna in general.

According to a statement released by Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defense Information, Gen. Oluyede made the charge while on an operational visit to the brigade in Samaru, Kataf, Kaduna State.

“The visit was essentially aimed at ascertaining the combat readiness of the brigade and the challenges confronting troops with a view to addressing them,” the statement said.

Uba clarified that the purpose of the visit was to guarantee the complete elimination of terrorism, abduction, livestock rustling, and other crimes that were previously common in the area before the brigade was established in 2024.

According to the statement, the Chief of Defence Staff was pleased with the troops’ level of awareness and professional demeanor and gave them instructions to continue being devoted, professional, and committed to their work.

“You must keep outwitting criminals by anticipating their actions and evolving effective countermeasures,” he added, challenging them to consistently come up with creative solutions that will always put them ahead of crooks.

We will keep providing you with the tools, platforms, and enablers you need while also giving your wellbeing the consideration it deserves to ensure your success.”

Navy Capt. O.J. Ekuma, the commander of 2 National Mission Force Brigade, had previously highlighted the formation’s accomplishments, which included the arrest of prominent bandits and their associates, the neutralization of criminals, the recovery of numerous weapons and rustled cows, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

He added that the brigade has strengthened security in the area by preventing bandits and other criminals from moving around within its JOA.

The CDS examined ongoing Defense Headquarters projects and military deployments in the surrounding area as part of the appraisal. He oversaw the brigade’s acquisition of platforms and essential operating equipment that were either deficient or insufficient.

GOC 3 Division Maj. Gen. E.F. Oyinlola, Chief of Defence Operations Maj. Gen. J.H. Abdussalam, and other important staff officers accompanied the Chief of Defence Staff.

The tour demonstrated the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s leadership’s dedication to continuously identifying and filling shortcomings in personnel welfare, equipment, and general well-being in order to guarantee maximum operational efficiency.
