Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez has named three former Super Eagles captains as his Nigerian football role models.
The 25-year-old picked Jay-Jay Okocha, Joseph Yobo and William Troost-Ekong as those who inspired him.
Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, Fernandez said Okocha’s style, elegance and ball skills are the kind of football everyone growing up wants to play.
He noted that things change and players often end up not playing that way as they grow older.
